Many people decide to seek chin augmentation after
they see a picture of themselves in profile. They never realize that
their chins are too small or underdeveloped.
An image of weakness can be projected by a small undersized chin. It
can undermine your face, making your nose appear larger and an overbite
more pronounced. Chin augmentation will improve the appearance of the
chin, bringing better balance to your facial features.
A Silastic implant is used to augment an undersized chin. Your surgeon
will make an incision inside the mouth, or underneath the chin, creating
a pocket. The implant is slipped in between the muscle and the jawbone
where it remains firmly in place. Any scarring from an incision under
the chin is minimal.
You may experience swelling and bruising. Any discomfort after surgery
can be controlled with pain medication prescribed by your surgeon. You
will be up and around the same day of surgery, but you may need to eat
a soft diet for a few days.
